In 1940 a group of the legendary Ju 52 (nicknamed „Aunt Ju“) touches down on the solidly frozen Lake Hartvikvann near Narvik in Northern Norway.The planes sink to the bottom of the lake in the following spring.




The „Joint Venture Ju 52“, headed by Günther Leonhardt, waged an expedition to Lake Hartvikvann in Norway. There they recovered four of those eleven sunken Cargo Ju 52s. Since 1989 one of these planes, superbly restored, is on display in the so called „Ju Hall“ at the Wunsdorf Air Base. An original part of a Ju 52 fuselage is on display in this museum.
