Milli Beese (*1886 †1926) was the first female aviator. In 1911 she was awarded the first pilot’s license for engine powered flight. In 1912 she founded her „Flight Training School Melli Beese“ at the Johannisthal-Berlin airfield. She designed and built airplanes and seaplanes.

Elly Beinhorn (1907 – 2007) was born here in Hannover. In 1929 she received her pilot’s license in Berlin-Staaken. In 1932 she flew alone in a Klemm plane with an open cockpit and a 80 hp Argus engine around the world..

Even before the tour of the museum, a showcase shows the great contribution of women to the development of aviation.
